What you should know before the shoot
A proposal lives on authenticity. Too much choreography quickly makes it feel rehearsed. That's why we help you plan the setting well and let the moment itself happen naturally.
We plan the shoot so it feels like a normal couple shoot to both of you. The proposal happens within the shoot, with a signal agreed between you and us beforehand. That way we are close enough to genuinely capture the emotions.
Location and timing
A quiet cove, a stretch of beach with an open view or a special place from your holiday are ideal. Our location suggestions are based on experience: places where we have good positions, good light and as few strangers in the frame as possible.
Sunrise is particularly peaceful; sunset is particularly romantic. In peak season we plan the location very carefully so your couple shoot stays relaxed and the proposal doesn't happen in the middle of a crowd.
Flow and signal
Beforehand we agree when during the couple shoot the proposal should happen and what the signal is. This can be a specific position, a brief phrase or a small sequence. The simpler, the better.
Important: we do not photograph the proposal hidden at a great distance. We remain part of the shoot, give you natural movement and stay close enough to capture facial expressions and reactions.
After the yes
Right after the proposal the emotion is at its peak. That's why we continue shooting afterwards as a couple session. These images usually feel especially real, because the tension has dropped and you're experiencing the moment together.
